Areas of activity where the template can be used

Building construction, engineering, software development, and other IT works, repair works, provision of services, cooking and catering for events, kitchen remodeling, landscaping projects, or another service-based business.

How to use the template?

Go through every section suggested and add your estimation quantities and prices. Use either one summary row for the section or list a more detailed estimation. Sometimes, it is better to provide a detailed estimation, both for transparency and to demonstrate value to the customer. Total is calculated.

Materials

List all materials needed:

raw materials,
parts,
equipment,
supplies.

Enter name, quantity, unit of measure, unit price.

When materials represent a major expense in the work they could be grouped. For example, construction materials could be grouped into bulk materials, standard off-the-shelf materials, and fabricated members or units.

Labor

List tasks, services required to complete job/work.
Enter name, associated labor hours. Totals are calculated based on the hourly rate.
For example, for kitchen remodeling, tasks could be: prepare the design, install appliances, paint walls, ceiling, update lighting, etc.

Other charges

List any additional changes, overheads, if any. Enter name, hours or quantity, and rate/price. Usually, these costs do not bring any value but influence the work indirectly. For example, it could be materials transportation costs.
